National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) completed a pilot project for the national Digital Currency " e-hryvnia " which began in the December 2018.
Ukraine do not have any digital payments system and only cash is used everywhere for payments of goods and services but now Government working on digital payment system named 'e-hryvnia'.
Alexander Yablunivsky, director of the payment systems and innovative development department at the central bank said :
"We are not talking about cryptocurrency, we are talking about a central bank digital currency. It can be implemented with both the technology of a centralized registry and a decentralized one.”
he also said :
"Therefore, we are in this issue, one might even say, ahead of world leaders, since we have made a step in practical research, albeit a small one"
NBU launched the first time the digital currency project e-hryvnia based on blockchain technology at the end of 2016.
The e-hryvnia digital currency will provide low transaction fee and high speed transactions which will be very helpful in the payment market of the Ukraine.
